Lembongan is known for its world class surf breaks. The island is blessed with incredible waves suitable for varying abilities and breaks on coral reef. Boots are not essential but handy for those less confident or still learning.
Playgrounds:
This is a peak offering both lefts and rights. The wave can turn from a friendly high tide wave suitable for beginners/intermediate surfers to a more challenging yet rip-able peak. Watch out for the dropping tide. The water disappears fast and you may find yourself closer to the reef than desired! Catch a boat or walk to coconuts beach and paddle out from this cute little bay.
Hazards: crowds of all abilities and unforgiving reef at low tide
Shipwrecks:
A fun right hand reef break suitable for all levels depending on swell, size and tide. Paddle out from Indiana Kenanga or avoid paddling over the seaweed farms by catching a local boat to the surf break.
Hazards: rogue sets crop out of nowhere...keep your eyes peeled on the horizon...strong currents on swell over 3ft+
Lacerations:
A fun friendly high tide wave, but when the swell arrives and the tide drops out this wave turns into a barrelling machine. Advanced wave and aptly named. Paddle across the channel from Playgrounds or get a boat.
Hazards: keep an eye out for fast moving boat traffic when crossing the channel!
Ceningan:
If none of the main breaks are working on Lembongan, or you wish for something a little off the beaten track take a bike ride across to neighbouring island of Nusa Ceningan. Here you will discover "Secret point" a fast long left.
Hazards: Watch out for currents and seaweed farm poles on the inside.
